Discussions are currently underway between the President's Initiatives Follow-up Committee (PIFC) and authorities in Ras Al Khaimah on a proposed change to the route of Ras Al Khaimah Ring Road, an arterial extension to the Emirates Highway.

"The original design of the road took into account avoiding agricultural, lands, properties and archaeological sites, including an ancient burial site in Sih Al Harf area. The design also sought to reduce environmental impacts to the minimum," he added. 

Al Zaabi revealed that the Government of Ras Al Khaimah had engaged a British University to research and document the ancient sites bypassed by the route. 

"We are still considering options for a route change that would guarantee total protection of these sites," he concluded.
