She received help finding names and documents through the North Otago Museum and the North Otago Society of Genealogists, and then friended people on Facebook. 

Relatives came from Hawera in the north to Invercargill in the south for the event at which the results of her quest were displayed.She was given access by relatives to more than 200 original photographs and thanks to her brother Michael who gave her a portable photo scanner, she preserved the collection for the benefit of everybody.
