THE people of Chongwe District have praised the Government and the United Nations Children’s Fund for the help rendered in making sure they maintain high levels of hygiene and sanitation through the ‘Three million people sanitation programme’.It is a tattoo that has a history going through the Marble Tiles generations and has been revered by countless devotees of religions.Chongwe District Council chairperson Mathews Nkupisha said UNICEF helped the people in the area by formulating a programme that was aimed at prevention of diseases and ensuring that the people were taught on the measurements required.Many onlookers allege electronic cigarette that this FDA crackdown was the result of prompting from lobbyists employed by big tobacco companies in the United States.
Mr Nkupisha said the people in the district welcomed the programme and the results were impressive as many people followed the instructions and built lavatories.He said before the programme was introduced,Or the one I hate the most is to nail it long slip rings and straight off the tee only to find your ball in a fairway divot.The reason behind this is because you use a different Waterborne resin bowling ball based on how much oil is on the bowling lane. many households in various villages did not have lavatories,The way I see it we used sugar every single kitchen gadgets day in almost everything for example coffee cookie cereal. hence contracting water-borne diseases which amounted to medical bills of about K900 as compared to building a lavatory facility which cost K350.Mr Nkupisha appealed to the Government to provide them with more funds that would help them carter for water development and continuation of the programme to maintain high levels of hygiene and sanitation.
“We are asking the Government to help us with funds so that we can continue with the programme of water and sanitation because we want our people to drink clean water.“Right now, some people from other villages are drinking water from rivers and shallow wells which is not encouraging for we need to have good water and good sanitation to live a healthy life,” said Mr Nkupisha.He said most people fetched their water from rivers and shallow boreholes which was not healthy for them.
Mr Nkupisha said this during the verification by UNICEF under the local government verification and certification of Open Defecation Free Processes in Chongwe district last week.Chongwe Education standard officer for Open and Distance Learning Batria Kasibo said local people, environmental health technicians and the chiefs were trained to assist in the campaigning of the programme to make sure local people built lavatories.
